How to Install The Faded Black Video LUTs
The Faded Black LUTs by Gabriele Vinci is compatible with Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2015.3 or later, Adobe After Effects CC, DaVinci Resolve, and Final Cut Pro X 10.4+.
The installation process is different from software to software. Please, follow the next simple steps related to the software that you are usually using.
Installation process: Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2015.3 or later - Mac
• Extract the ZIP file you downloaded.
• Navigate to the folder ‘The Faded Black > Outdoor Collection’ and copy (Command +C) all the files with the .cube extension.
• Open a new Finder window, then go to the folder “Applications > Adobe Premiere Pro CC [release number]”.
• Right-click on the ‘Adobe Premiere Pro CC [release number]’ application icon and select ‘Show package content’.
• Now go to: ‘Contents > Lumetri > LUTs > Creative’ and paste (Command +V) all the .cube files here.
• Open Premiere Pro, your LUTs will now be available in both the ‘Lumetri Color’ effect and the main ‘Color’ Panel, inside the ‘Creative’ tab.
• Please, use the ‘Look’ dropdown menu to select the LUT you’d like to use. They’re all available with the prefix ‘TFB’ (‘TFB01 – The Blue Hour R01’, ‘TFB01 – The Blue Hour R02’, etc.)
Installation process: Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2015.3 or later - Windows
• Extract the ZIP file you downloaded.
• Navigate to the folder ‘The Faded Black > Outdoor Collection’ and copy (CTRL +C) all the files with the .cube extension.
• Navigate to the folder “C:\Program Files\Adobe\ Adobe Premiere Pro CC [release number]\Lumetri\LUTs\Creative” and paste (CTRL +V) all the .cube files here.
• Open Premiere Pro, your LUTs will now be available in both the ‘Lumetri Color’ effect and the main ‘Color’ Panel, inside the ‘Creative’ tab.
• Please, use the ‘Look’ dropdown menu to select the LUT you’d like to use. They’re all available with the prefix ‘TFB’ (‘TFB01 – The Blue Hour R01’, ‘TFB01 – The Blue Hour R02’, etc.)
Installation process: Adobe After Effects CC 12.1 or later
• Extract the ZIP file you downloaded.
• Open After Effects and make sure the “Effects & Presets” Panel is visible (‘Window > Effects & Presets’ to open up the Panel).
• Type ‘Apply Color LUT’ in the search box of the ‘Effects & Presets’ panel and drag & drop the ‘Apply Color LUT’ effect on the footage you’d like to apply a LUT to.
• A dialog box will automatically appear so that you can now navigate to the folder ‘The Faded Black > Outdoor Collection’ and select the LUT (.cube files) you’d like to use.
• Alternatively, you can select the footage you’d like to apply a LUT to and go to ‘Effects > Utility > Apply Color LUT’, and the same dialog box will automatically appear.
• The LUTs are now ready to use. They’re all available with the prefix ‘TFB’ (‘TFB01 – The Blue Hour R01’, ‘TFB01 – The Blue Hour R02’, etc.)
Installation process: DaVinci Resolve 15.1 or later
• Extract the ZIP file you downloaded.
• Open DaVinci Resolve and click on the small ‘gear’ icon placed at the bottom right corner of the DaVinci Resolve window to open up the ‘Project Settings’ window.
• On the Project Settings window, click ‘Color Management’ on the left side menu and scroll down to ‘Lookup Tables’, and click on ‘Open LUT Folder’.
• A dialog box will automatically appear so that you can now navigate to the folder ‘The Faded Black > Outdoor Collection’ and select the LUT (.cube files) you’d like to use.
• After that, click on the ‘Update List’ button.
• The LUTs are now ready to use. They’re all available with the prefix ‘TFB’ (‘TFB01 – The Blue Hour R01’, ‘TFB01 – The Blue Hour R02’, etc.)
Installation process: Final Cut Pro X 10.4 or later
• Extract the ZIP file you downloaded.
• Start by importing the clips you want to use in your project.
• Once you finished importing your clips, go to the right side of your screen and click the two overlaid boxes icon to open the ‘Effects Browser‘.
• After you’ve opened the ‘Effects Browser‘, go to the left tab and select ‘Color‘, then look for the ‘Custom LUT‘ effect on the right side.
• Select ‘Custom LUT‘ from the drop-down menu and drag it over to your clip.
• To move on to the following step, make sure the Inspector is visible. By clicking on the three lines with the sliders icon in the top right corner of the Final Cut Pro view, you can show or hide the inspector.
• Now select ‘Choose Custom LUT‘ from the drop-down menu next to ‘LUT‘.
• A dialog box will automatically appear so that you can now navigate to the folder ‘The Faded Black > Outdoor Collection’ and select the LUT (.cube files) you’d like to use. They’re all available with the prefix ‘TFB’ (‘TFB01 – The Blue Hour R01’, ‘TFB01 – The Blue Hour R02’, etc.)
